Things to do in Jersey this autumn

Summer may be over, but there’s still plenty to enjoy at the Ommaroo Hotel and around our beautiful island. Autumn brings a slower pace, quieter beaches and a good excuse to spend a little longer over lunch. Whether you’re planning a half-term family holiday or a few days away for two, there’s plenty to fill your stay.

Make the most of your stay

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading out for a walk along the seafront. Afterwards, settle into Coast Bar & Bistro for a delicious lunch with a view. There’s no need to rush — sometimes the best part of a holiday is having time to sit back and watch the world go by.

If you’re feeling brave, pack your swimming things for a refreshing dip at Havre des Pas bathing pool, right on our doorstep. Follow it with something warm to drink and enjoy that lovely feeling of having earned your lunch.

Take to the ice this half term

Jersey on Ice returns to the Weighbridge in St Helier on Saturday 24th October 2026, just in time for the October half-term break. The rink is scheduled to stay open until Sunday 10th January 2027, so there’s plenty of time to fit in a visit during an autumn or festive stay.

Whether you’re finding your feet or already confident on skates, it’s a fun addition to a family day in town. Check the latest session times and book online through Jersey Development Company.

Spend a day at Jersey Zoo

Animal lovers won’t want to miss Jersey Zoo. Set in landscaped grounds, it’s a lovely place to spend a few hours discovering animals and learning about the conservation work that helps protect threatened species.

Burn off some energy

If the children have energy to spare, Jump Jersey at Les Ormes is a great option. With trampolining, climbing walls and soft play, there’s plenty to keep them busy — and being indoors makes it handy for a rainy afternoon.

For older children and adventurous adults, Valley Adventure Centre offers aerial trekking, zip-wire adventures and more. Check the age and height requirements when choosing activities, and book ahead to secure your session.

Discover Jersey’s history and heritage

There’s far more to Jersey than just its beaches. Explore the Island’s stories through Jersey Heritage, from the impressive Mont Orgueil Castle overlooking Gorey to museums and ancient sites.

The National Trust for Jersey also cares for fascinating historic properties and beautiful natural places. Autumn is a good time to combine a little history with a countryside walk. Check seasonal opening dates before setting off, as these vary between sites.
